Seattle at a Glance

Seattle is an elegant city that grew out of shipping, timber and fishing industries in the 19th century. After WWII, the city boomed as a center of Boeing Aviation. Recently, software development and the presence of the web giant, Amazon, have fueled economic growth.

Seattle is home to the iconic Space Needle, which was built for the Seattle World's Fair of 1962. The Space Needle is one of the tallest structures on the West Coast and is built to withstand 200-mile-per-hour winds and a 9.1-magnitude earthquake. The Space Needle is an excellent place to take pictures and enjoy the view of downtown Seattle, Elliot Bay and Mt. Rainier.

Visitors to Seattle can also take in art museum and the music scene. The Seattle Zoo is an especially fun place to take kids.
