      Need to Know

Severe Weather Since many people come to Stowe for skiing, it's unsurprising that the area gets a significant amount of snowfall. However, major snowstorms and blizzards can be a hazard, making for dangerous travel conditions.

Safety Concerns Stowe is a very safe place to travel. Nevertheless, basic precautions, like watching out for your valuables and being aware of your surroundings, are always smart.

Health Concerns Health concerns are also low in Stowe, as elsewhere in Vermont and the United States. Drinking water supplies are safe and communicable diseases are generally limited to illnesses like cold and flu. Always be well-prepared if you're planning on camping in the wilderness - or going on any backwoods excursions - particularly in the winter, when temperatures can get low enough to cause frostbite.
