Sydney at a Glance

Beach-side Sydney is well known for its glamorous opera house and tone-y beaches. Put on your holiday best and parade around, or hit the town in a t-shirt and jeans. You'll find restaurants, entertainment and activities fit for all types here.

Sydney's beaches and parks are where it's at in the summertime. Lie in the sand, or get active in one of the large parks ringing the city or penetrating its core. Animals are abundant here too and you'll join a host of Aussi creatures when you take your morning run, or ride your bike around the city before dinner.

With its big opera house leading the way, Sydney has dozens of music venues for classical, rock, punk, pop, alternative, indie, jazz and literally everything in between. Whether you dress up for an elegant evening of Mozart, or like a beer while you listen to live music in a pub, you'll be able to spend an enjoyable evening in the city. For those who prefer the club scene, DJs pump out music well into the early hours of the morning and you can join scads of young, fit party-goers having a good time.

Finally, it's interesting to learn about Sydney's indigenous populations and its start as a British penal colony. Little museums and sites scattered about town will remind you of the city's past.
