: Joshua Tree National Park, California
Like something out of a Dr. Seuss book, Joshua trees scatter the Joshua Tree National Park near California’s Coachella Valley. These prickly “trees” are actually members of the agave family and are said to have been named after a bible story by Mormon settlers. You can find this species in the Mojave Desert, as well as the Sonoran Desert and the San Bernardino Mountains.
